Next is the crystal, 422 has a sapphire crystal which is much more durable and resistant to scratches, etc. The 372 has a plexi crystal, which is almost a scratch magnet. Speaking from experience, plexi is ok and easy . Previewed in 2011 and presented at SIHH 2012, PAM 422 is the Luminor Marina (small seconds) version of the PAM 372. The P.3001 movement here is the same as P.3000, save the small running seconds at the 9 o'clock .
Either watch is a great thing on the wrist. If I had 1 Pam, I would lean towards the 422 as the sapphire is better for daily use and the seconds function is convenient. If it was a second pam, 372 just because it feels more iconic. I went with the 422. I wanted the subdial and the PR indicator was a great addition.
While the lugs are thinner on the 372, maybe the brushed finish helps reduce the case thickness perception or that the domed crystal gives the 127 a more tapered look. More than one place I have read that the 422 is the 372 with seconds and PR indicator on the back - and not that the 372 is While I prefer the font on the 390 to the 372, pretty much everything else of the 372 is better. Since you have an 005 for daily wear (love the 005, btw), I say make the trade. 005 and 372 is a pretty sweet Luminor duo. Good luck with the choice! get the 372. save the 390. I’d argue that 372 is even more Panerai-er than 422 due to the 6152/1 connection However,probably 422 is the first 47mm luminor in marina configuration that’s missing the 9 on the dial.look . The strap doesn't taper and is wide throughout. The newer 372 with the sapphire crystal comes on a 27/22 strap which tapers. This isn't a big issue from a functional standpoint as you can put any 26mm strap on the 372. The buckle though on the 26/26 strap models is large.

Since the new serial Pam 372s come with sapphire crystals instead of plexi, I was curious if the prior 372s could be retrofitted. Went to the Panerai website and chatted online with them regarding this. After 5 minutes of the customer service person researching the issue .
